Resume L'objectif de cet article est d'apporter une reflexion sur la place que nous devrions accorder aux refugies dans la societe canadienne, tout en considerant les enjeux securitaires. La crainte de nouveaux attentats terroristes a pousse les gouvernements nord-americains a se replier sur euxmemes et a exacerbe le sentiment negatif envers les etrangers. Ce sentiment s'impose egalement en defaveur des refugies. La confusion entourant les categories de personnes desireuses de franchir la frontiere canadienne precarise le sort des refugies qui tentent legitimement de trouver asile au Canada. Cet article porte principalement sur la perception negative que certaines initiatives gouvernementales posent sur les refugies. Plus precisement, l'auteur met en question les orientations prises par le nouveau gouvernement en place, depuis le 12 decembre 2003, dont la creation d'une agence des services frontaliers qui s'apparente a l'organe americain, le Homeland Security.
