Emma Fielding is a famous diva, mid-twenties, beautiful and at the height of her career, but love-starved. When in New York for a performance, her aide, Marian, suggests that they visit Craven House, where women executives go to find relief among the handsome men provided there. This changes Emma's life and enhances her performances on stage and she attracts the attention of the tenor and baritone, and also her publicist, but none excite her like Declan who she met at the male brothel.

He follows her when she returns to England, saying he wants to become an actor. Her new leading man, a famous tenor, also wants her, and she is torn between several men, emboldened by her experiences in Craven House.

Her affairs with these men tell her story, along with her increasing success on television and stage, but will she eventually find happiness with the man of her dreams...?
