Looking for Strings

Looking for Strings conducts a balance between quiet and clamorous.  This picture book combines imaginative illustration with minimalist storytelling.  An introduction to the relationship between art and life, Looking for Strings is a smart, creative, and fun approach to the joys of making music. 

There is only one string left on the guitar. In a search to find more strings, neighbors and friends deliver unexpected solutions to complete the instrument.  Drawing from commonplace sources, such as twine, fishing line, toys, and ropes, the sounds of the guitar expand.  With the first strum of each string, the guitar rings in a voice that reflects the everyday origins. The story culminates in a boom of inspiring tones.
