The Greek playwright Aristophanes is most famous for Lysistrata, a bawdy play about an Athenian woman who organizes a sex strike to stop wars among the Greek states. She was married, but we know nothing about her husband Lysistratus tells the story of this pre-Christian era feminist conjecturally from the husband’s point of view.
