In Maisie’s first case as a detective, she investigates a mysterious retreat centre that claims to help injured war veterans, but may be harbouring a dark secret. It’s a clever, fun, and satisfying read.

A refreshing heroine, appealing secondary characters and an absorbing plot, marred only by a somewhat bizarre conclusion, make Winspear a new writer to watch.
