When the doors of the lift crank open, the only thing Thomas remembers is his first name. But he's not alone. He's surrounded by boys who welcome him to the Glade, a walled encampment at the centre of a bizarre and terrible stone maze. Like Thomas, the Gladers don't know why or how they came to be there-or what's happened to the world outside. All they know is that every morning when the walls slide back, they will risk everything-even the Grievers, half-machine, half-animal horror that patrol its corridors-to try and find out.

One of my Favourite Series
This was and still is one of my favourite book series to read. The plot is great, the characters, the writing, the language is all fantastic. This is definitely a must read for book lovers. I only gave it a four because I think the plot in the other books is better.
as a 14 year old girl, i would recommend this series to anyone. when i first started reading this i honestly thought, “what even is this?” but as i kept reading on i got more and more into it and now i love it! this was such an amazing series to read and i’m in the middle of rereading it now. please, do yourself a huge favour and read this masterpiece!
ps-if you enjoy this series i also highly recommend the hunger games, divergent, chaos walking, and legend. these are books with a similar genre to the maze runner that i love!
