‘Amazing!... I was absolutely blown away. Twists and turns and so much suspense.’ ☆☆☆☆☆ Reader Review

No one can love a son like his mother…

Patricia Mullner is trapped in a nightmare no parent should ever experience. Three years ago, 17-year-old son Andrew vanished without trace. There was no note, no goodbye and no body has ever been found, and now her days are spent in a fog of heartache and alcohol, crying to husband Thomas about their lost boy.

But Patricia is more than just a grieving mother, and as Andrew’s disappearance starts to unravel the perfect family she’s built with Thomas, it seems that the actions of her past may be back to haunt her.

Because someone is watching from the shadows - someone who knows exactly what Patricia is hiding. Someone who will stop at nothing to take revenge – and might just hold the key to Andrew’s disappearance…

An absolutely gripping psychological thriller with a shocking twist in the tale. Readers of My Lovely Wife, KL Slater and B.A. Paris will not be able to put this one down.

A great debut

Three years ago Andrew Muller vanished and has not been seen or heard from since. His mother, Patricia Muller is living every parent’s worse nightmare as she tries to come to terms with maybe never seeing her son again. But there is more to Andrew’s disappearance than meets the eye and it is secrets from Patricia’s past that are about to resurface, which could hold the key to what happened to Andrew.

Mummy’s Boy is well structured in its multiple narrators from Patricia, her husband Thomas and the mysterious “Watcher” who’s voice provides the more sinister parts of the story. They are chilling and Jason definitely does a great job here in making the reader uneasy when reading these parts of the story.

The characters in this story are flawed and complex and are very well developed and written beautifully. Although not all likeable, each of the characters play out the roles they have been given well.

I really enjoyed Jason’s style and how he ramped up the tension throughout as he keeps the reader in suspense as to the reasoning why Andrew vanished. Although a slow burn to start with, once it kicks in, it does so at full steam ahead and it is very hard to tear yourself away from it.

Mummy’s Boy is a dark and chilling read that will have you reading well into the night. Just one more chapter I found myself saying, which turned into another then another until there was no more left! It is an addictive psychological thriller but does deal with the sensitive issues, of alcoholism, drug abuse, suicide and physical abuse which may be triggers for some readers.

With an eerie cover that immediately draws you in, a strong plot, characters that are well developed and with twists and turns along the way, Mummy’s Boy is a great debut and I look forward to more work from Jason. It was an absolute pleasure to read and review Mummy’s Boy which I recommend.

Thank you to NetGalley, Hera Books and J.A. Andrews for allowing me to read an advanced copy of Mummy’s Boy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.
