Publisher Description
In Jack Nightingale's world - where reality and the occult collide - sometimes the only way to fight evil is with evil.
A farmer walks into a school and shoots eight children dead before turning the gun on himself. It's a harrowing but straightforward case - until police search the man's farm and unearth evidence of dark Satanic practices. When the perpetrator's brother approaches Nightingale, adamant that his brother was set up, it's clear that something even more sinister lurks at the heart of the case.
And there are dark forces elsewhere. A young girl miraculously returns to life, claiming she's spoken to those from beyond the grave. Those in contact with her are dying hideous deaths . . . forcing Jack Nightingale to make the hardest decision he's ever faced.

Longtime fan
I love Stephen Leather books, have been reading them for over 30 years!
Fell in love with Jack Nightingale novels ,as so different from any book Stephen Leather had written and a can't put down thriller .so had to preordered Nightshade.
Found it not long enough , and would have loved more of Proserpine and witchcraft . But enjoyed that Jack was Back!
Glad you didn't waste time writing parts of the first novel to bring the reader up to speed with Jacks Life and Past, they need to read the first novel to get to know Jack and second and third .
Please Please keep writing about Jack Nightingale ,such a great
Character . Love thrillers ,with a good twist and lots of action.
Now I have nothing to read. !
Love you very favorite fan.
Usual great read but ......
Yet again we are subjected to the Authors obvious passion for smoking and almost on every page we are bombarded with in depth visuals of Nightingales smoking habits.
This goes on and on ad nauseum and it obviously a way of using the book as a vehicle against the anti smoking establishment that Leather so obviously disposes!
This ever-repeating issue continues to spoil every book he writes ....... damn shame!
Nightshade
