Publisher Description
At the wedding of the century, a brazen kidnapper steals the star of the show...
Erin Easton's wedding in one of New York's biggest venues may have a TV crew documenting every extravagant detail, but when the bride disappears from the reception, it's no diva turn. Her dressing room is empty except for a blood-spattered wedding dress.
Detective Kylie MacDonald of NYPD Red, already at the scene as a plus-one, brings in her partner, Detective Zach Jordan, to search for the missing bride. Unable to rule anything out, every A-list celebrity on the guest list has to be considered either a target of suspicion . . . or a target.
INCLUDES AN EXTRACT FROM THE PRESIDENT'S DAUGHTER, BY BILL CLINTON AND JAMES PATTERSON

Red scare
Author
American. Mr P is "the world’s bestselling author and most trusted storyteller. He has created more enduring fictional characters than any other novelist writing today" to quote his website. All I know is, he makes a helluva of lotta money. Mr K is one of the many authors Mr P "collaborates" so he can crank 'em out as rapidly as possible. This is the sixth and latest in a series involving a crack NYPD squad that specialises in solving crimes involving celebrities and really rich people (like Mr P). Zach and Kylie are young and attractive and used to have a thing back at the academy but are now just friends who exchange meaningful looks and loaded phrases.
In brief
Erin, in her late thirties, has been a reality TV star for almost 20 years. She marries this rich dude (his Mom's rich anyway) in the "wedding of the century" then gets abducted from her dressing room where she's changing into something more suitable to warble a few tunes for the assembled glitterati after dinner. Her mother-in-law (a Miranda Priestly clone) detests her and didn't bother going to the nuptials. Erin has a zillion followers on social media and her fair share of creepy stalker types. Our gal Kylie scored a last minute "plus one" so she's on the scene, all frocked up, when the sh*t goes down. Meanwhile, a couple of dudes in a fake ambulance are making emergency calls on rich elderly women, whom they rob. Kyles and Zach, who quickly find themselves under mucho pressure from the higher ups, are making little progress when the Miranda Priestly clone gets taken out by a sniper at a fashion show. Then "the vic" manages to escape after slashing her captor's throat with a shank she made, as you do. All is not what it seems, of course.
Writing
Crisp, clear, efficient, well paced genre prose as expected from Mr P and Santa's helpers. Credibility is strained just enough but not too much. (Mr P has done this before. A lot.) As for the characters, well...
Bottom line
Good, if unexceptional, entertainment from the house of Patterson.
