Ouroborus

Ouroborus Tripartite is a poem I wrote where I was thinking of the vagueness of poetry, where each line is "supposed" to be so meaningful, kinda like Nostradamus and people reading all sorts of things into simply preposterous lines. It's the type of pompous poetic mumbo jumbo I cringe at reading (when I haven't written it) !!! HA!


   This poem is 4 stanzas of 6 lines each. The rhyme scheme is ABABAC, and each C line must have a C and be 3 syllables and end in "ing" and be a single word.


   It occurred to me, in order to make this poem even more ambiguously meaningful, that I could take these 4 stanzas and play with the 6 lines in each to create another new poem just as 'meaningful' as the first. And thus, the second variation of the original takes the first line of the first stanza followed by the first line of the second, and so forth coming back to take the second line of the first stanza, the second line of the second stanza, and so one, finally creating a new poem of 6 stanzas having 4 lines each.


   And why stop there?! So, the third variation also ends up with a new poem of 6 stanzas having 4 lines each, built by taking the first line of the first stanza, the second line of the second, the third from the third, fourth from fourth, and then back to the top to repeat with the next lines, wrapping around and around! 


   The structure of this poem provides for 3 chapters, one for each variation, each stanza having its own sub-chapter. Each stanza has had its lines split-apart in order to preserve the intent (the pacing) of each line, and thus each line may be given its own page; there may be instances, however, where managing the evolution of the poem in your mind, some lines have been split into multiple pages, or, multiple lines of a stanza remain on the same page (making it so a page is not necessarily equal to the count of lines of a stanza).
