Pastoring By Elders

The professional clergy class that so widely predominates Christianity does not have its origin in God’s Word. The role of clergy was adapted from the pagan practices of the Greeks and Romans who depended on priests to stand between them and their gods as intermediaries. The shepherd/teacher our Lord envisioned was an older man, who had experienced the power of His Spirit so that he could equip the faith family in his care to serve Jesus as their Lord.
