Paul Revere

The story of Paul Revere is one heard by nearly every elementary student throughout the United States. He alerted the Colonial militia that the British forces were arriving before the Battles of Lexington and Concord. The now famed expression "one if by land, two if by sea" originated on this historic night when he rode from town to town warning prominent politicians and militia of the coming British. His heroics were immortalized and entered into the canon of American folklore in the poem Paul Revere's Ride by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.
