From 1995-1998, he was independent counsel for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. He has also been with the Brookings Institution, the Atlanta law firm King & Spalding, Monsanto Co. and Ford Motor Co. ... Executive suite: At Tribune Co. of Chicago, Nils Larsen has been named chief executive of the broadcasting division; he remains chairman of Tribune Broadcasting, a role he's held since October and also remains chief investment officer of Tribune Co., a job he's held since 2009. Larsen joined Tribune in late 2007 from the firm Equity Group Investments (owned by Tribune Chairman Sam Zell), where he had been managing director; he'd joined Equity Group in 1995. Earlier, he was an analyst with Credit Suisse First Boston. Larsen replaces Jerry Kersting, who resigned; Kersting had been president of the broadcast division since May 2010. He joined Tribune in 2008 and was named chief operating officer of the broadcasting group in late 2009. Earlier, Kersting did a 34-year stint with Clear Channel Communications Inc. and predecessor companies, finishing up as chief financial officer. ... At Hearst's Michigan newspapers (Midland Daily News, Huron Daily Tribune in Bad Axe, Marlette Leader) Jenny Anderson has been named group publisher; previously she was publisher of the Midland paper, a job she'd held since 2004. Earlier, she was publisher of the Bad Axe paper for four years. Anderson is a 31-year Hearst veteran, starting as an account rep at the Midland paper and being named retail manager in 1984, ad manager a year later and general manager in 1996. Before newspapers, Anderson was with the Midland Chamber of Commerce. Also at the Daily News and Daily Tribune, Tim Neuman has been named general manager; previously, he was production manager at the Daily News, a job he's held since 2003. Neuman joined the paper in 1987. ... At American Consolidated Media's Northern Minnesota operations (Grand Rapids Herald-Review, Cloquet Pine Knot, Walker Pilot Independent, Manney's Shopper, et al.) Todd Keute has been named regional operations manager; previously, he was publisher of ACM's Daily Press in Ashland, Wisc., and Wisconsin regional manager, a job he'd held for a little more than a year. Earlier, Keute was manager of ACM's printing plant in Hibbing, Minn., for three years. He is a 29-year newspaper veteran, having started as a sales rep at the Republican Eagle in Red Wing, Minn. Later Keute was ad manager at the Red Wing paper, and held the same job at the International Falls Daily Journal and the Mesabi Daily News. In 1996 he was named publisher of the Superior Daily Telegram and in 2004 he was named vice president of administration and production at the Duluth News Tribune. Keute replaces Charles Johnson, who is retiring; Johnson had been president and chief executive of Superior Publishing Corp. (titles that are being eliminated) since 2003. Earlier, Johnson was an executive with McGinnis Communications and Murphy McGinnis Media Inc. ... At Media General Inc. of Richmond, Va., Andrew Carington has been named vice president, general counsel and secretary; previously, he was associate general counsel, a job he's held since 2006. Carington has been with the multimedia firm since 2001, when he joined as counsel. Earlier, he was with Georgia-Pacific Inc., also in Richmond, as counsel, for two years. He started his law career at the Virginia Beach, Va., firm Huff, Poole & Mahoney. ...
