Publisher Description
1. Introduction When the Kaiser Foundation released its report on electronic media use among infants, toddlers, and older preschoolers (Rideout, Vandewater, & Wartella, 2003), commentators, older adults, and parents of older children were shocked and amazed. Only the parents of very young children and those who work daily among them were unfazed. The study of 1,000 parents of children from 6 months to 6 years of age revealed a young generation surrounded by media devices and immersed from birth in electronic media content.
