I’d like to puck around and find out
Rachel Price has just started her new job as a doctor for a new NHL team. There she just happens to run into Jake, a one night stand she hasn’t been able to forget. Then there’s Caleb, his best friend and the teams equipment manager. Oh, and there’s also the Finnish goalie, Mars.
This book was long. Like real long. It was also super smutty. I haven’t read a lot of RH or poly books so I’m not going to speak from any point of authority on that but I quite enjoyed the MFMM situation we had going on.
Good parts: Jake. Loved him. He was like a little golden retriever puppy that I just wanted to smoosh and play with. I liked his friendship and then relationship with Caleb and their dynamic together. I also loved the vibe of the hockey team, they were always laughing and joking around with each other. They also seemed to be quite respectful and open minded, willing to shut down homophobic talk etc. Also, there was an abundance of smut. An abundance.
I also loved the thought that a NHL team, its owners, sponsors and fans would all get around their players being queer and/or polygamous and love them more for it.
Meh parts: Rachel was kinda annoying and I often just wanted her to STFU. There was also quite a lot of instalove vibes, which isn’t personally my thing.
Oh! You also get to learn Finnish while you read, so it’s basically a textbook…
