Pulmonary Embolism

The purpose of this course is to provide healthcare professionals with the knowledge and clinical strategies necessary to optimally triage and treatment patients with pulmonary embolism. In addition, members of the public may use this course to enhance their personal knowledge of the subject matter presented.


Upon completion of this course, you should be able to:


1. Define a thromboembolic event.

2. Explain pathogenesis, risk factors, and demographics of pulmonary embolism (PE).

3. Review the diagnostic workup of PE.

4. Compare the different types of PE treatments in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
