Rae's Reunion

Rae couldn't help herself -- she had to ask --
"Jesus, Barry, did you always get this big?"
"Since puberty," he gasped.
"I missed out during our tutoring sessions," she murmured, smiling.
"I wanted you so bad back then."
"You should've taken me," she admitted softly. "I wanted you, too."
"I'm taking you now," he hissed, and rolled her over.

Rae attends a private Fourth of July party after her 20th Reunion, where she is reunited with the shy young man who tutored her in history.

Barry is still the reserved, bookish person she remembers from high school, but now his brilliance extends to other subjects, too, and old secret feelings are spontaneously rekindled.

Rae has always fiercely guarded her privacy and independence. But Barry's methodical, studied prowess is like a highly addictive drug, and she sacrifices all her self-restraint in order to possess it.
