Ramage's Mutiny

Two years after HMS Jocasta was seized by mutineers and surrendered to Spain, Captain Nicholas Ramage is given an order that seems impossible: bring her home.

The British frigate now lies deep inside the heavily fortified Spanish harbour of Santa Cruz, protected by more than a hundred guns. Another British captain has already tried to recapture her—and failed. Now the Admiralty has turned to Ramage.

But before he can sail, the capture of four surviving mutineers reveals the disturbing truth behind the Jocasta affair. Her crew were guilty of mutiny and murder, but they had also endured a brutal reign of punishment that drove them towards breaking point.

With his newly commissioned frigate HMS Calypso and a crew willing to follow him into almost certain death, Ramage devises an audacious deception. To succeed, he must penetrate the enemy harbour, seize the Jocasta from beneath the Spanish guns and escape before the enemy discovers the truth.

And when secret Spanish orders reveal that an even greater prize may be within reach, Ramage must decide how far he is willing to risk his ship and his men.

Packed with deception, daring raids, brutal sea battles and naval intrigue, Ramage's Mutiny is a gripping Age of Sail adventure from master storyteller Dudley Pope.
