Publisher Description
The bestselling autobiography of one of Australia's most loved personalities is now in paperback.
Ray Martin tells the story of his less than stellar introduction to the glamorous world of television. Before Ray had even got to high school, he had lived in thirteen different places, in three Australian states, mostly in the bush. His father was a violent, drinking man who would lash out at his wife and children. His mother would uproot the family across to the other side of Australia to escape him. Ray's world was as far away from Hollywood and movie stars and the bright lights as is possible to imagine. This is the long-awaited, warts-and-all autobiography of Ray Martin. His exceptional career, his happy marriage to Dianne, and his lasting love-affair with the people of Australia. Funny, thought-provoking and inspiring, tthe most compelling autobiography of the year is now in paperback.

1st EBook purchase!
Very interesting read but I was expecting more of his perspective on the stars he interviewed and more anecdotes of the stories behind stories.
Possibly less on the politics (office) of channel nine - lets face it there are office politics in every workplace - that stuff gets boring.
I am disappointed that there is reference to photographs we don't get to see in the ebook version - why is that?
Overall though it was a great read - one can relate to the 'domestic tales' from that era, we have come a long way :)

This is an amazing and interesting read. As a Ray Martin fan I never knowing where he came from and how passionate he is about journalism. It's easy to imagine that all successful people come from A privileged or charmed upbringing but this was certainly not way Ray started out. It was refreshing to read of his deep and unashamed love for his family.
I Love his cheeky and honest writing style and would highly recommend it to anyone who know him from his ABC days to Midday or ACA.
Thank you so much Ray
