I'm a RHCE and purchased this book as a reference. If you're new to Linux, or an old pro who just needs to reference command syntax, then this is the book for you. The author is obviously well versed in RHEL, and has managed to present this text in a clear and well articulated format.
The chapters have been arranged in a logical manner, covering both graphical and command line formats. Example syntax and pictures are plentiful. All major topics from installation to complex administration are covered.
Linux does scare many IT people away. It's seen as a bit of a "dark art" and too difficult to master, in comparison to Windows. Take that first brave step into the world of Linux with some confidence, and buy this book. Hell, Linux is free and the RHCE certification costs big $$. I have no doubt that I could have passed my certification using nothing more than this book, an old PC, and a couple of weeks dedicated study. Go for it!
Congratulations to the Author on an excellent book. I'm now checking out what else you've written, and will probably be buying the C# reference in the coming days.
