Redback Networks' Acquisition of Abatis Systems: Enhancing Broadband Access

The successful U.S high-tech corporation Redback Networks Inc. acquired the Canadian firm Abatis Systems Inc. Both companies manufactured systems to enhance broadband access and Internet traffic. Abatis had a very limited product line, and faced the difficulties of competing against firms with a wider variety of systems. The takeover solved this challenge enabling Abatis to use Redback's international distribution and marketing system.
