Great read!
This was the first Western I've ever read, and I enjoyed it! The start reminded me of a movie I've seen (probably the ONLY Western movie I seen), but then it changed into something entirely different, as Claire is considered a suspect for the murder of her family and ends up in hiding. She gets help from two men, who really don't have anything to gain from helping her, they're just good people. All Claire wants though, is retribution for the deaths.
I was always one of those people who said they'd never read a Western, but I have enjoyed all the other books I've read by this author, and the premise sounded interesting. I am glad I decided to give it a go! I loved the character of Claire - she's one tough woman (as DV Berkom's main characters usually are) and I wish I was more like her.
This was a short story, but was packed with action, suspense and emotion. I enjoyed reading it and would love to read more Claire stories.
