Ruthless

As a massive fan of the masters and mercenaries series I was so excited to read about the new trilogy spin off. The price did put me off a bit, however I was sucked in by the sample, and happily paid the money to get more of Lexi.
Great characters and intriguing storyline, as usual the humour is divine and the passion high. Both main characters are delightfully flawed and I enjoyed seeing more of the Lawless men after catching glimpses in M&M.
For a full length novel the price is higher than usual but it was worth it.

$16.99, when it's $1.99 (on sale) in the US, is crazy stuff. No wonder there are so few reviews for this and other Lexi books

I have read and loved all in the Masters & Mercenaries series by Lexi Blake and when I heard that she had a new series coming out I eagerly jumped at the chance to read and review it. I knew I wasn’t going to be disappointed and Ruthless is the start of another fantastic series.
The Lawless brothers Riley, Drew, Brandon, and their sister Mia, are bound and determined to seek revenge on those they hold responsible for their parents’ murders 20 years ago.
Separated after their parent’s death and out into the foster care system, the siblings fought to regain control of their lives whilst actively seeking revenge. Their lives were not easy and it is from this that they draw their strength and their commitment to seek justice for their parents.
Ellie Stratton is the daughter of one of the men responsible and it is through her they intend to start their plans of revenge. Riley is the brother tasked with getting close to her, although he doesn’t count on his almost instant attraction to her.
Riley struggles with his feelings for Ellie as he works both against Ellie and with her as her new lawyer, so much so that he becomes uncertain if he can go through with the plans that they have made to bring her down.
When Ellie’s life is threatened, she is shocked to find out that Riley is determined to seek revenge for his parents and this in turns threatens the relationship that is building between them. Will he risk the love that has formed to seek the revenge that has been planned for most of his life? Or will he let the past go for the woman who has come to mean so much to him?
The chemistry between Riley and Ellie was sizzling. I loved how Riley gave Ellie the confidence that had been trampled in her previous marriage. There was mystery, intrigue, suspense, hot alpha men and as you can expect from most books from Ms. Blake some moments of humour.
I love Lexi Blake’s writing style; no one does romantic suspense like she does. Riley and Ellie are meant to be together; two halves of a whole.
Ruthless is one of those books that in many parts, you read and go, wait, no, did that really happen? I am eagerly anticipating the other books in the series. I believe Brandon is next and then Drew and I am excited for their stories. You also get a glimpse of some of the M & M characters as Mia is now married to Case Taggart.
