Saint Francis of Assisi

Saint Francis experienced stigmata on October 4 during his lifetime, and after his death that date has served as his feast day. In life, St. Francis loved serving God's most helpless creatures, and today he is perhaps best known as the patron saint of animals. St. Francis is also the patron saint of the environment, Italy, merchants, stowaways and Cub scouts.
