Saint George, Champion of Christendom and Patron Saint of England

Saint George is the patron saint of soldiers and one of the most venerated saints in Christianity.  A story involving Saint George's battle with a dragon to save a woman is often told to highlight how he slayed evil to save goodness.  Saint George is the patron saint of soldiers because of his desire to always protect the Christian faith and fight for his beliefs.
