Scythe Scythe

Publisher Description

A dark, gripping and witty thriller in which the only thing humanity has control over is death. In a world where disease, war and crime have been eliminated, the only way to die is to be randomly killed ("gleaned") by professional scythes. Citra and Rowan are teenagers who have been selected to be scythes' apprentices, and despite wanting nothing to do with the vocation, they must learn the art of killing and understand the necessity of what they do. Only one of them will be chosen as a scythe's apprentice and as Citra and Rowan come up against a terrifyingly corrupt Scythedom, it becomes clear that the winning apprentice's first task will be to glean the loser.

Tears For Fears!

I don’t read books that make me cry! Sci Fi is not a genre where emotions are so deep that they drag me into that whirlpool of angst. Usually I am whisked away into strange and exotic worlds or ideas that feed into my deep desire for escapism and to feed my soul with a profound new view of life. This book did all of this. And it made me cry!

I have been excited, thrilled, impressed, confused, laughed, bored, anxious, frightened, overwhelmed, amused, befuddled, thoughtful and many more emotions but have never yet cried. Until now.

Maybe I haven’t read enough books. But then I have read hundreds, or maybe thousands? Lost count years ago. Maybe I am just getting soft in my old age. Maybe I am too close to death to be impartial.

Best book ever!!! :)

This is a book, that when you read the blurb, sort of sounds like The Hunger Games Series, and sounds really ominous and sad, but is really well written and is a really moving and good book in general. Makes you feel for the characters: tick. It shows the corruption in this society and the changes trying to be made, and in general, it’s a really good book! I’d definitely recommend this to anyone interested in futuristic, slightly amusing genres, and I’m waiting for more books from Neal Shusterman. The whole series will have you on the edge of your seat waiting for more ;) ☺️ it’s just AMAZING!!!
