Publisher Description
How does it feel to be diagnosed with a life-threatening health condition?
Addison's disease is a rare auto-immune condition which can be fatal. Diagnosis is often made in an emergency.
In this book, sixteen people describe the impact Addison's disease has had on their lives. Drawn from the USA, Canada, UK, Australia, South Africa, Belgium and South Korea, these men and women describe in their own words the difficult journey they've taken, from illness, through diagnosis, to living a full life, thanks to the second chance modern medicine has given them.

Second Chances:True stories of living with Addison's Disease
Amazing book! Being a newly diagnosed Addisonian myself, I needed to find out what kind of chance at life lay ahead for myself. Being a very rare disease (4 in 100,000 people diagnosed) I found plenty of information online regarding the medical description of the disease, but practically nothing concerning day to day living and what kind of quality of life one could expect.
This was the book. While putting forward a variety of stories from a variety of people, the book pulls no punches in informing the reader of the harsh realities the disease can present for the owner.
However, hope and inspiration are also very big features of this book and for this I am extremely grateful.
My thanks to Carol and to all the writers and Addisonians that took the time to share their stories. This book and your stories change lives for the better. It certainly did mine!
Many thanks,
