By the mid-nineties, the AIDS pandemic had claimed the lives of half a million people in the US alone. Being infected with HIV still meant a certain slow-moving death, a fact almost forgotten now that sophisticated treatments abound. This book is dedicated to the families of those who died, and to the long-term survivors in our midst.
