Publisher Description
Mary received a strange invitation letter and a pearl every year, so she came to her door to ask
Holmes to assist in the investigation. Holmes felt that there was indeed something strange in
the matter, and together with Watson took the initiative to accompany Mary to accept the
appointment. The inviter was a gentleman who called himself Thaddeus Sholto. Mr. Thaddeus
Sholto’s father was a colleague of Mary’s father, Captain Morstein. The death of Mary’s father
was actually inseparable from the old Sholto. So Thaddeus hopes to compensate Mary.
Thaddeus’s brother Bartholomew discovered the treasure left by his old father, so Thaddeus
decided to share part of the property with Mary, but when Thaddeus went to his brother
Bartholomew’s house, he found that Bartholomew was dead.
Who killed him?
