Simple Mechanics of Paying Attention

Publisher Description

Thoughts are a constant voice in our ears that we have been conditioned to accept as normal, but how long would you tolerate somebody following you around all day and night whispering junk in your ears? You would not. So why do you tolerate the endless stream of junk from yourself?
Paying attention is paying attention, whether it is to a flower or a thought, but thoughts being much more abundant than flowers, using thoughts is much more practical. By learning to pay attention to your thoughts, you can see them more clearly and see which ones are junk and which ones may be useful. Also, you can make them disappear in a sense because they do not like to be looked at.
By learning to pay attention to your actions, like the movements of your hands on a steering wheel, you can learn to pay attention to your thoughts and there are different ways to use your actions. Use them in slow motion to make a cup of coffee. Do it alone at first, so you don't feel self conscious. Moving slowly, your thoughts can't keep up, so it conditions your senses to your movements.
