A newcomer to the domed city, Ces' mind is already fracturing, distorting reality as she tries to tell her story, a looping track of violent beats and unexpected side effects. Every day in the research city of S.O.U.N.D. proves an endless stream of live performances. For the world's greatest musicians, quarantine is a small price to pay.

But Ces soon learns feeding on transformed tunes hurts. Eating music is dangerous and addictive. Artists, clean folk, cultists, and children experience disturbing reactions. As pressure mounts, ethical boundaries fall and the citizens of Sound find themselves at the mercy of authorities.

The experiment could save the world. But who will save the population of Sound when the price of information is so high?
