Some people can't let go of a grudge. Homicide Detective Sean Trann is learning this the hard way. He made the mistake of interrupting the killing spree of Boston's most notorious serial killer, Spider. Intent on finishing what he started and infuriated at Sean's previous involvement, Spider has decided to use those closest to Sean as pieces in his twisted game.
But when the true motive behind the killings is revealed, can Sean stay professional when his loved ones are on the line?

Spiders Truth
Fairly good read
Along came a spider
Author
American biology graduate with a string of self published sci-fi titles to her name. This is her first foray into detective fiction. A sequel is coming later this year.
Plot
The last day of every month for six months, Boston PD receives a cryptic note from a serial killer that foretells a grisly murder the following day. There's no apparent connection between the victims, or the modes of death, except that they all get paralysed with succinyl choline (suxamethonium) beforehand and remain awake during the full horror of what happens to them. Nice, eh? I'm not sure why they don't die of ventilatory failure first, but Ms Y-K intimates there's some sort of "secret sauce" in there too, so maybe that's why. Buff 28-year-old detective Sean Trann, who has touch of Sherlock about him, transfers to Boston from Philly after his fiance leaves him standing at the altar. Our boy's ethnicity is not stated. I'm guessing Transformer. He arrives in time to work out the cryptic message for victim number six. They get to the dude while he's still alive, but he croaks on the way to hospital. No more murders or notes for 12 months then, hey presto, it starts again, except weekly this time because the perp needs to catch up. Sean's ex (beautiful of course) turns up from Philly and gets involved. So does a 26-year-old female chief medical examiner (she's hot too) with a touch of Asperger's about her. Turns out the serial killer isn't a dude, it's a group of chicks who are part of a secret cult that runs around in the nuddy in a Tardis like underground bunker. I kid you not.
Characters
The girls who aren't psychotic are really hot, or really smart, or both. The psycho chicks are hot too, and they run around naked. Did I mention that? The guys apart from Trann are mostly plodders.
Narrative
Third person from several POV's, mainly Trann.
Prose
Pace aplenty and not too many editing blips.
Bottom line
There's a reason Apple Books and Kindle don't charge you to download this book, and it isn't the 4.12 average rating it has on Goodreads. That having been said, I did finish it (the alternative was watching 'Tiger King') and I didn't give it one star. For some reason, reading it reminded me of watching the movie 'Mars Attacks'.
A fantastically written murder mystery
Absolutely loved this book. Well written and full of many fantastic twists and turns. You can’t help but be drawn into the story and form an attachment to the main character.
