Publisher Description

On 12 October 2002, the beautiful island of Bali was hit by a deadly terrorist attack. It claimed the lives of 202 people and left 240 others severely injured. Nicole McLean had been in Bali for just six hours when she was caught in one of the explosions. That night she lost her arm and was left fighting for her life.

This is Nicole's extraordinary journey. Shown through her eyes, and through the eyes of friends and family who watched helplessly while the horror unfolded before them, this is a gripping personal account of what happened that fateful night and Nicole's difficult yet incredible journey towards recovery.

Ten years on, the scars from Bali have not faded. But while those left behind will never be forgotten, this book is a testament to the resilience and strength of spirit in those that survived. It is a story about hope, second chances and never giving up.

WOW

People talk about books that they can't put down but usually that's just a figure of speech. I downloaded this book 5.5 hours ago and I really couldn't put it down. What a read. I cried, I laughed, I was horrified, I was joyed and then I cried and laughed, cringed, and restored faith in humanity all over again. Such a mixture of emotions reading a book about an amazingly brave girl who was in the wrong place at the wrong time. An incredibly grim circumstance but the book wasn't all doom and gloom. I laughed as much as I cried. The horrendous ness of the situation and the years that followed were not sugar coated but highlighted that while there is life there is hope. At times as I read I almost felt like I was intruding on Nicole and her family and friends due to the rawness an emotion that was captured. I don't claim to be a friend of Nicole's but I am certainly a good friend of one of her very good friends. Whilst I have seen Nicole from time to time since the bombing and followed her struggles second hand through my friend i wasn't prepared for the openness and honesty in this book. I am in awe of someone so prepared to see so much good in the bad. Im sure to think of Nicole before i grumble over trivial things in future. An amazing read which I highly recommend. A credit to both Nicole and the author.

Wow!!! All I can say is Brilliant.

I don't know how I got to start reading this novel. It was just before I was going to Bali in 2016. I was on fb and people were commenting about Bali books and I decided to read Nicole's book. I was reading it while in Bali and on return. It was really fantastic book to read. It was everything I had heard of and more. I totally loved the book, and hope to read another of how she is coping years on...
