James Fenimore Cooper is one of the best known American writers, and he was admired in his day even by European writers like Honore Balzac. By the end of his life, he had penned the Leatherstocking Tales, including The Last of the Mohicans, which was turned into a popular movie.


Ironically, in a time when many women used pseudonyms with male names to publish their stories, Cooper used "Jane Morgan" as  a pseudonym to publish Tales for Fifteen, stories about imagination and heart.
