Since he was a little pig, Corky McPorkles has longed for a quiet life as a village teacher, with a few good friends, some woods to explore, and time to write his poetry. Now, thanks to the help of his good friend, Zippy Foxmoor, his dream is about to become a reality. Or is it?


Corky quickly learns Woodbridge Village isn’t quite the peaceful spot he’d imagined. The villagers are an intriguing, lively, and sometimes exasperating group of animals who are proud of their village and fiercely competitive during their monthly festivals. In just a year, Corky will come to know the gossips, book lovers, artists, gardeners, snobs, a famous inventor, a prickly caretaker (well, he is a porcupine!), a transcendental mathematician, an elderly bovine pole-vaulter, a fruit-obsessed grocer, and many more characters who live in the village (not to mention, his one-true-love).


Corky’s hopes for a quiet life are further—and frequently—interrupted by his college chum, Zippy, now the owner of the world-famous detective agency, Gumshoe, Inc. Zippy’s efforts to capture the notorious gangster, Bugsy Beagle, often and surprisingly require the help of his wise friend, Corky.


Life becomes even more complicated during a village trip to Zoopolis, when Corky becomes involved in Zippy’s latest mystery, which leads back to Woodbridge Village and exciting developments for Corky and his understanding of friendship and true love.
