Telecom, IT Get Disapointment - As Rs 2.767 Trillion Budget Tabled for 2011-12

It's an unfortunate anf harsh reality that a poor nation has landlord rulers, the budget of the most important sectors like, Telecommunication, IT, Education, Health etc need to be increased but despite tall claims by the goverment that it would freeze its expenditure, the expenses of the President House have been increased by 12.88 per cent, while the Prime Minister's House gets Rs 1.37 billion, the budget for the year 2011-2012 treats the president and prime minister like kins of a Large Kindom Finance Minister Abdul Hafeez Shaikh announced the budget with an outlay of Rs2.767 trillion for 2011-12, with a fiscal deficit of 4 per cent of the GDP. The Federal Budget 2011-12 neglected the telecom industry's special demands. Telcos were looking at a rationalisation of GST, the abolishment of activation tax, the reduction of withholding tax and the removal duties on mobile handsets. Telecom gets one per cent relief in GST but others taxes remain unchanged.
