I like the premise and love Hercule but…..
Unfortunately this book is product of its time and I just can’t finish it - it’s too racist 😐.
There have been other times in other Christie books where I’ve raised an eyebrow and grimaced because of words she has used to denote African American people but it’s generally said and the story carries on without any more offensive stereotypes. Here though, her treatment of an Asian man is just so, well, racist, that I can’t carry on!
I don’t agree with the cancel culture of today, but maybe it’d be prudent for someone to give these a bit of a once over and a bit of a gentle edit?
