The Black Phantom

The life of Suma, a jaguar of the South American forest, and of the Indians who share the forest with her — natural history told as a tale, from the great flood onward, with the storyteller Oomah and the hunters of his tribe. Miller collected for the American Museum of Natural History and was a naturalist on Roosevelt's Brazilian expedition of 1913–14; the animals here are drawn from the field.
