This is how the dead boy tells the story. Yes, Jane loved Henry in her way. Yes, Jane was driving the car in which Henry was mortally wounded. Yes, on the road, on the run, Jane did pick up a hitch-hiker. And, yes, Jane loved Carter too. But, in a different way, and, somebody else died.
