Customer Reviews
If you don't know author Jack Vance, then read this trilogy!
If you do know the author, then enjoy a take-with-you anywhere (digital) copy of one of his classics.
Jack Vance is often commented as one of the most undervalued fantasy/sci-fi writers of all time. Which would seem true if you go looking for his books in a book-store, as they're hard to find.
The Lyonesse trilogy details a rich fantasy world of ancient times where Kingdoms were fought for and intrigue, mayhem & striving are common place for the many characters within.
Vance easily presents a depth of historic detail in his writing that makes the reader feel at ease with unknown creatures, magical ways or character behaviours. The author has a way of detailing items in the story by cleverly 'presuming' our knowledge (of such ancient things) leaving it to your imagination to fill in some blanks, which adds your own personal interpretations (and stops you getting bogged down in detailed descriptions).
I remember the first time I read these books... I couldn't put them down, consuming chapter after chapter.
Go to Wikipedia for a detailed synopsis of this book (trilogy) if you need that sort of information (spoilers), or simply buy this and engulf yourself in another world of a forgotten time. His other books (any of them) are just as good a read. Eg. The Dying Earth series.
