The first novella to be published by New York Times bestselling author Grace Burrowes features the foundation story for her bestselling series. This is the tender story of love tested and won, and how Percy Windham, the dashing and brilliant man who was never supposed to become the Duke of Moreland, wooed the amazing lady who became his beloved Duchess.
Percival Windham is a second son, and a cavalry officer acclaimed and respected by his men. He is immensely attractive and distracts himself with the women who seem to throw themselves at him at every turn, until at a country house party, he meets beautiful, retiring Esther Himmelfarb. Esther’s wealthier relations are taking shameless advantage of her dependence on them, and only Percy seems to see the striking intelligence beneath her modest demeanor. Percy sees her as the perfect companion and she finds in him the man of her dreams.

iBook her first Novella Regency
About Esther, granddaughter of an earl, but without dowry, whose family send her to a house party to watch over her gambling cousin Michael who is supposed to be looking for a wealthy bride. In the kitchen gardens she meets Percival Windham, the duke's spare and most likely heir, who is hiding from the devious machinations of the titled girls trying to snare a wealthy prestigious husband. Those girls look down on Esther because she is further from her aristocratic roots, and isn't wealthy. They also dislike her because she is pretty and has gained the attention of Percy, and thus his brother Anthony, and their friend another unmarried duke. They treat her like a companion or servant, in fact her accomodation is reflecting that. Percy likes that she talks and listens rather than does inane drivel. She doesn't think she would be considered as a wife by him, especially when other sleazy men try to take advantage or offer to make her a mistress. So when she decides she wants him, it's for him personally and physically, not with the thought she is snaring a title.
The courtship & other books by Grace Burrowes
Grace Burrowes is simply brilliant! She weaves such spellbinding compulsive colourful intrigues one is simply compelled to devour each offering from beginning to end. I have read all published works by this author in this series, with the exception of the final instalment of the Windham children, Lady Jenny's book. I am beside myself in anticipation. Such attention to detail is magical, each one is like living in a time warp. Meticulous reference to the Regency era is such a treasure it's like reading a history lesson however far more entertaining. I look forward to further publication's from this author and have not been dissatisfied in the least thus far. I wish you all as much joy and fascination as I have had on this fantastic adventure with such a fantastic story teller. Find your favourite corner, or a comforter on a wet and wild afternoon next to a blazing fire and prepare to be swept away by this enchantress.
