'Nelson DeMille is a true master'
Dan Brown
Strap in for the ride of a lifetime with the blistering new novel from America's greatest living thriller writer, Nelson DeMille.
Daniel 'Mac' MacCormick has a good life. Aged thirty-five and a decorated US Army veteran, he whiles away his life in stunning Key West, Florida, running a forty-two-foot charter fishing boat The Maine. A ladies' man and rule-breaker, Mac has it all - apart from the money to hold on to his beloved boat.
Then Mac is approached by a hotshot Miami lawyer called Carlos with an apparently irresistible offer: a fee of $2 million to run the boat into Havana and smuggle out $60 million from a stash hidden from the Castro government - cash once owned by the family of a beautiful Cuban-American woman named Sara Ortega.
With the political 'Cuban Thaw' underway, it's only a matter of time before someone finds the stash. But Mac knows if he accepts this job, he'll walk away rich...or not at all.
Punchy, witty and rammed with action, legendary international #1 bestseller Nelson DeMille once more shows he's a true master of the genre.
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
Set in 2015 during the early days of the thaw between the U.S. and Cuba, this action-packed, relentlessly paced thriller from bestseller DeMille (The Quest) introduces Daniel "Mac" MacCormick, a 35-year-old army veteran wounded in Afghanistan and now living in Key West, Fla., as a charter boat captain. Crippled by debt he has a $250,000 bank loan on his boat and feeling existentially adrift, Mac agrees to participate in a covert mission to Cuba for a substantial sum. Financed by a faction of Cuban-Americans bent on freeing their ancestral home from Castro's oppression and returning millions of dollars and property to their rightful owners, the job entails accompanying a beautiful woman to Havana and recovering a cache of money and documents hidden in a cave. But the plan is risky at best, and soon Mac is on the run with a woman who could be manipulating him. A line from the novel perfectly describes this page-turner: "Sex, money, and adventure. Does it get any better than that?" Agents: Jenn Joel and Sloan Harris, ICM Partners.

Unfortunate
First one of his books I did not like. Very repetitive, very obvious, needed editing, propaganda against anything Cuban except the rum, incredible in the words truest sense A fishing boat outrunning naval gunboats - nonsense! As usual the bad guys cannot shoot accurately but the good guys wow, they should be in the Olympics. Too superficial. Otherwise perfect.
Seriously can I have my money back?
I can't even bring myself to finish this book. I've read quite a few chapters but nothing has happened besides the introduction of some very two dimensional characters and a very superficial description of Cuba and its people. The book is chauvinistic, xenophobic and dull.
