A must read
A truly wonderfully written book on the savagery that has taken place in East Timor.
Powerful, moving, raw.
This novel is clever and all too real. It's as much a page flipping story as as it is a historical narrative of a people who have struggled so much.
Surprisingly gripping
This sort of fiction isn't normally my preference, but it held me from first page to last with its rich characters and interesting detail about a country I previously knew little about.
The author's personal experience in Timor clearly shows. An excellent and enlightening read.
