These short stories have for decades enjoyed a certain status as "lost" pieces, due to the author's own failure to reprint them in either of his first two compilations, Flappers and Philosophers (1920) and Tales of the Jazz Age (1922), and the tendency of editors in later collections to favor more celebrated titles from the rich Fitzgerald canon.
