PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
Ryan concludes the Draconis Memoria epic fantasy trilogy (after The Legion of Flame) with an ending riddled with political intrigue, bloody battles, and magic. Using shifting perspectives and points of view, Ryan continues to expand this visually rich landscape as he builds up to an all-out battle for the fate of the world. As the White Drake's army wreaks havoc, leaving ash and death in its wake, small-time criminal Claydon Torcreek and master spy Lizanne Lethridge rally their allies. Relying on their powers and knowledge, this ragtag group moves against the Drake, hoping to turn the tide of battle. But saving the world means the secrets of the past must all come to light. Ryan skillfully navigates multiple narrators to unveil a world steeped in magic and on the brink of destruction. Both the characters and the setting are irresistible right through to the end.
Customer Reviews
Wow
A ripper of a book to finish the series. Ryan makes you feel both sides of the conflict and keeps the action rolling. Great series and a wonderful conclusion.
Empire of ashes
A fitting finish to a good fantasy series
Comforting yet a little dull
Thought it was worth the read but the ending fell a little flat and was predictable.
Would still recommend reading it if you’ve read the rest but definitely feel like the first two are stronger stories.
Pace was a bit plodding in some parts and it lacked a build up of tension, an element of surprise/shock factor or any real twists to really bring it home.
