In the post-COVID economy, rising inflation and interest rates have seen the Sydney apartment market crash. Billionaire property developer Nicholas Rutherford's Millennium Developments has been placed in voluntary administration, leaving clients, investors, creditors and subcontractors in financial ruin.
Small business owner Jack Baker and his wife Beth are facing bankruptcy being owed $1.6M as one of the many unpaid subcontractors. Faced with the prospect of losing his house and his business, and at the behest of his wife, he turns to his old friend and private investigator, Billy Thomas, who plans to dig up some dirt on Nicholas for leverage to help recover the money owed to Jack.
Will the blackmail plan work? And what will the fallout be for Nicholas and those around him?

The Fallout
Such a great read - very relatable
The Fallout
Thoughtfully researched, this debut novel by Mark Doldissen is a creatively crafted criminal novel about greed, lust and revenge. A modern David and Goliath tale set in Sydney where the reader is transported to a ‘too close to home’ familiarity of how close we come to losing what we have.
Entertaining from start to finish.
You’ll love The Fallout
Set in the recent past The Fallout is an account of greed and revenge told with a keen eye for human failing contrasted with human goodness. You’ll learn to love and hate the well-crafted characters as you follow the well-paced storyline to its surprising conclusion. Readers will see themselves or people they know reflected in the main players in this modern morality tale. The author has a keen eye for detail in his descriptions of the locations for this story. I’d recommend this to anyone who loves a great read.
