Enter the world of One Folgate Street and discover perfection . . . but can you pay the price?

Jane stumbles on the rental opportunity of a lifetime: the chance to live in a beautiful ultra-minimalist house designed by an enigmatic architect, on condition she abides by a long list of exacting rules. After moving in, she discovers that a previous tenant, Emma, met a mysterious death there - and starts to wonder if her own story will be a re-run of the girl before. As twist after twist catches the reader off guard, Emma's past and Jane's present become inexorably entwined in this tense, page-turning portrayal of psychological obsession.

Following in the footsteps of Gone Girl and The Girl on the Train, The Girl Before is being brought to the big screen by Academy Award-winning director Ron Howard.

'A deeply addictive literary thriller that deserves to be one of this year's biggest successes' Daily Express

A uniquely written mystery

I like the way the story was told from the perception of the two female characters, one in the present & one in the past. The similarities in their experiences helped to build the suspense. Short digestible chapters helped kept the pages turning. A really interesting read but a slightly disappointing ending, but often it is that way with mysteries. A great first novel & an easy book to knock over in a day.

Definitely interesting...

This book is well written and very unusual, so it probably deserves more than three stars for that. The characters though were so awful I felt a bit nauseous. Not really my cup of tea, but that’s no fault of the author who is clearly very talented.
The masses of blank pages were probably a glitch, but also seemed appropriate for the story.
One thing I thought was written beautifully and accurately was the description of Toby, breastfeeding him and the pregnancy. I’m pretty certain the author is a mum :)
