Publisher Description

Saving the world is a test no school of magic can prepare you for in the triumphant conclusion to the Sunday Times bestselling trilogy that began with A Deadly Education and The Last Graduate.

The one thing you never talk about while you're in the Scholomance is what you'll do when you get out - not even the richest enclaver would tempt fate that way.

But that impossible dream has somehow come true for El and her classmates. And what's more, she didn't even have to become the monstrous dark witch she's prophesised to become to make it happen. Instead of killing enclavers, she saved them, and now the world is safe for all wizards. Peace and harmony have enveloped all the enclaves of the world.

Just kidding.

Instead, someone else has picked up the project of destroying enclaves in El's stead, and everyone she saved is at risk again with a full-scale enclave war on the horizon. And so, the first thing El needs to do after miraculously escaping the Scholomance, is to turn straight around and find a way back in.

So immersive I didn’t want it to end

Think I’ll just start reading the whole series over again. It’s a world that you live. I don’t want to say goodbye.

A Wonderful End to the Series

A genuinely lovely story, with incredible payoff for all the intricate worldbuilding woven throughout the series. The characters and relationships between them are so well written and interesting, and there’s something so clear-sighted in the way many of them interact. There aren’t villains so much as there are just people doing whatever they can to survive, doing what they think is right, and compromising over and over again because it’s easiest, and/or because they have no other way. The narrative understands them, and it understands the ways people continue making selfish choices, and it says “fine, but my protagonist does not have do this” over and over again. El is a wonderful protagonist, funny and dark and fascinatingly relatable, and it was a pleasure to watch her shape this world into a world build on kindness. A lovely read!
