The Grigori's Heart

It always rains now; it's the way of this new world. After fifty years of war we are all exhausted, the world broken by what we did during the war.
Unfortunately the world has more suffering yet to endure.
During the war we learned from the ancient past, delving into knowledge better left forgotten.
Magic was reawakened after thousands of years of ignorance.
We were egotistical to believe that we could control the rediscovered magic; we took that knowledge and incorporated it into technology full of spinning bronze gears and created the frightening monstrosities that polluted the world.
The Church hungers for more wealth and power, supported by an Inquisition that enforces the will of the Saints. Nobles bleed the city dry as they enslave the poor.
I find myself in an Empire where lucre is more important than lives and I'm caught up in the manipulations of the Merchant-Lords.
