The Hessians Are Coming
Publisher Description
Hessian troops served throughout the Revolutionary War, and were both feared and admired for their discipline and ferocity. They played important roles in many battles. After the war, most of the Hessian soldiers went home to Germany to wait to be called to fight in another war in some other place and to spend some time enjoying their new wealth with their families. However, some of them decided they liked America and wanted to stay there, and after the war, Americans were willing to let bygones be bygones. Over 3,500 Hessian soldiers stayed behind after the war and made America their home.
